Siena Continues Its Dominance of Wagner
from press release
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- Wagner may no longer be in
the MAAC Lacrosse League, but Tuesday's non-conference result was
no different for the Saints than usual against their former
conference rival. Siena won its eighth in a row over the Seahawks,
posting a 13-6 win at Siena Turf Field.
Bryan Neufeld and Collin Parkhurst each tallied hat tricks for the
Saints (3-2) which have outscored Wagner (0-4) 85-28 over the last
six meetings.
Wagner took an early 2-1 lead at the 9:20 mark of the first period
before Siena came to life on the offensive end. The Saints
responded with six unanswered goals over the next 6:16 to take a
7-2 lead and never led by fewer than three the rest of the way.
Neufeld, who extended the nation's longest active scoring streak to
40 games, added an assist to finish with a team-high four points.
Parkhurst meanwhile tallied the first multiple goal game of his
career.
Mic DeBellis added a pair of goals and John Rogener contributed a
goal and two assists for the Saints. Reigning MAAC Defensive Player
of the Week Tom Morr was solid again in goal, posting 12 saves.
Siena also received strong play in the face-off X where freshman
Rob Hunter won 16 of his 23 draws, picking up nine groundballs.
Colin O'Rourke posted a pair of goals for Wagner which has lost
seven in a row dating back to late last season.
The Saints return to action Saturday when they host St. John's for
the back end of a men's and women's lacrosse doubleheader at Siena
Turf Field. Face-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
