Feinberg, Brown Score Four Each; Bears Win

PROVIDENCE, R.I.-- Senior Andrew Feinberg and
junior Parker Brown scored four goals each to lead the 20th ranked
Brown men's lacrosse team to a 13-4 season opening victory over
Quinnipiac at Meister-Kavan Field.
Brown opened a 6-0 lead midway through the second quarter and
never looked back. Feinberg and Parker had two goals each in
the opening salvo, while senior David Hawley and sophomore Alex
Jones added a goal each.
Quinnipiac got on the scoreboard when Jack Oppenheimer scored with
6:33 left in the second quarter. Parker Brown's third goal
with 5:07 remaining gave Brown a 7-1 advantage at intermission.
Senior defenseman Matt Greenburg scored for the Bears to open the
third quarter, but Quinnipiac's Kevin Kelly scored to cut the Bears
lead to 8-2 after three quarters.
The fourth quarter was all Brown, with sophomore George Sherman
scoring his first of the season to open the quarter, Finenberg
netting two goals, and Hawley and Brown one goal each.
Excelling in net for the Bears was senior Matt Chriss, who
registered 14 saves, while allowing just three goals.
Freshman Will Round came into the game for the Bears with five
minutes remaining and registered a save. Kevin Benzing played
all 60 minutes for the Bobcats and made 10 saves.
The Bears out-shot the Bobcats by a 47-34 margin. Brown was
also strong in the face-off x, winning 14 of 20 face-offs, led by
senior Seth Ratner, who won 10 of 13 face-offs.
Brown returns to action next Saturday, March 5, traveling to
Amherst, Massachusetts to face UMass. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
at Garbor Field.
