Report: Cottle Unlikely to Take Harvard Job; Byrne Becomes Frontrunner

from staff reports

Notre Dame assistant coach Gerry Byrne is in line for the head job at Harvard, according to a report by the Washington Post.

Former Maryland men's lacrosse coach Dave Cottle, who interviewed at Harvard and was considered a leading candidate to swap jobs with John Tillman, is "unlikely" to make that move, according to the Washington Post.

Notre Dame assistant coach Gerry Byrne -- whose defensive system was lauded during the Irish's unlikely run to the 2010 NCAA championship game -- has become the frontrunner, the newspaper reported Tuesday morning.

Among other finalists for the Harvard job are Dartmouth's Andy Towers and Brown's Lars Tiffany, who was offered the Penn State job earlier this summer but turned it down, according to the Post.
