UNC Announces Impressive Recruiting Class

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The University of
North Carolina men’s lacrosse program has signed 12
prospective student-athletes to national letters of intent, head
coach Joe Breschi announced Wednesday. These 12
student-athletes will enroll at the University in August 2010 and
compete for a Tar Heel program which is currently 11-2 during the
2010 season and ranked No. 4 in the nation by both the USILA and
Inside Lacrosse. The current Tar Heel team will complete its
regular season on Saturday, May 8 with a 12 noon game at Fetzer
Field against Ohio State.
UNC’s incoming players are midfielder Will Campbell of Columbus, Ohio (Worthington Kilbourne High School); midfielder Ryan Creighton of West Chester, Pa. (Malvern Preparatory School); attackman Pat Foster of Lutherville, Md. (Boys’ Latin School); attackman Nicky Galasso of West Islip, N.Y. (West Islip High School); defenseman Connor Hunt of Arnold, Md. (Severna Park High School); midfielder Duncan Hutchins of Baltimore, Md. (Gilman School); midfielder R.G. Keenan of Perry Hall, Md. (Boys’ Latin School); midfielder Frankie Kelly of Lutherville, Md. (Calvert Hall College High School); midfielder Troy Kemp of Chattanooga, Tenn. (McCallie School); midfielder Mark McNeill of West River, Md. (St. Mary’s High School); goalkeeper Andrew O’Connell of Aston, Pa. (Malvern Preparatory School); and defenseman Jordan Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C. (Forsyth Country Day School).
“Our staff could not be more excited about the 12 young men who have decide to sign letters of intent to attend North Carolina,” said head coach Joe Breschi. “We feel they fit in well with our program academically and athletically and they will thrive in the family atmosphere we are creating here.
“On the field we have a great group coming in. Nine of these young men are ranked among the Top 40 Inside Lacrosse seniors and we anticipate this class being ranked at the top or near the top of the final Inside Lacrosse recruiting ranks when they are made official this summer. We are tremendously excited about the group as a whole.”
The incoming freshmen will be looked on to take the place of an outstanding senior class which will depart the UNC program after completing their careers in May. UNC’s eight seniors include attackman Gavin Petracca, midfielder Tommy D’Alessandro, attackman Kevin Federico, defenseman Sean Jackson, midfielder Cryder DiPietro, defenseman Michael Jarvis, attackman Joe Howard and midfielder Sean DeLaney.

Will Campbell, Midfielder, Columbus, Ohio (Worthington Kilbourne H.S.)
William Joseph Campbell is the son of James and Deborah Campbell…6-5, 200-pound midfielder…born April 7, 1992 in Columbus, Ohio…midfielder at Worthington Kilbourne High School…offensive MVP of 2009 Ohio Division I state championship game when he scored two goals in 7-6 victory over Upper Arlington, giving WKHS its first-ever state title…led ’09 team to 21-2 record and Top 25 national ranking…four-year letterman and 2010 team captain…selected by Inside Lacrosse Magazine at No. 6 rising junior and No. 13 rising senior in Class of 2010…played on high school teams which made state final 4 as a freshman, championship game as a sophomore and won title as a senior…selected to play in Under Armour All-America Underclassmen Tournament on Midwest Elite Team in 2009…three-year letterman in football…three-year scholar-athlete and honor roll member.
