HAMILTON, N.Y. – Sophomore Chris
Zielinski (Lancaster, Pa.) recorded a career-high six points as
Colgate upset No. 17 Lafayette 14-9 in men’s lacrosse action,
Friday night at Andy Kerr Stadium.
The Raiders outscored Lafayette 6-2 in the fourth quarter to secure a “Senior Day” victory and keep control of their own destiny in the race for the final Patriot League playoff spot.
Zielinski scored three goals and added three assists to lead the Raiders while freshman Peter Baum (Portland, Ore.) recorded his sixth hat trick of the season, off a game-high four goals. Sophomore Patrick Campbell (Massapequa, N.Y.) added four points off two goals and two assists, while junior Ben McCabe (Brunswick, Maine) pitched in three points.
Lafayette (8-3, 3-1) scored the first three goals of the game to take a 3-0 lead after the first period, but the Raiders would respond with three of their own to begin the second.
