Hofstra's Card Named CAA Player of Week

from press release

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.
- Hofstra junior attackman Jay Card has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 11, the CAA announced today.

Card, a native of Caledon, Ontario, Canada, continued his hot hand since returning from a recent ankle injury, adding five goals and six assists in two Hofstra victories last week. He tallied two goals and three assists in just two quarters of action in the Pride's 18-2 victory over Manhattan last Tuesday. He also added two ground balls against the Jaspers

On Saturday, in the first college game at the New Meadowlands Stadium, Card tallied three goals and three assists to lead Hofstra to a 12-11 CAA win over Delaware. He also picked up four ground balls against the Blue Hens. The three goals against Delaware is Card's third hat-trick of the season.

Card now has 22 goals and is tied for the team-lead with 19 assists on the season. He is second on the team with 41 points.

Card shares the CAA Player of the Week award with Towson junior goalie Travis Love. Love led the Tigers to two wins last week. He made 11 stops in Towson's 10-7 win over UMBC last Wednesday. Love then stopped 10 Massachusetts shots in a 10-9 upset of the Minutemen on the road Saturday.

The 11th-ranked Pride (7-3, 1-2) return to action this Saturday, April 17 when they travel to State College, Pennsylvania to face new-CAA member, the Nittany Lions of Penn State (1-9, 0-2). Game time at Jeffrey Field is 7:30 p.m.
