PHILADELPHIA -- Junior attackman Andrew
Feinberg scored four goals and senior All-American attackman Thomas
Muldoon added three goals to lead #20 Brown to its second straight
win, a 12-9 Ivy League men’s lacrosse victory over Penn
at Franklin Field. The win lifts the Bears to 5-4 overall,
2-1 in the Ivy League, while Penn falls to 4-7 overall, 0-4 in Ivy
play.
Junior David Hawley’s goal with 11:56 left in the game
broke an 8-8 tie and ignited a 4-0 Brown run that resulted in a
12-8 Brown lead. Hawley’s goal cane on a pass from
Reade Seligman, and the Bears followed with goals by sophomore
Parker Brown, Muldoon and Feinberg with 42 seconds left to put the
game away.Brown built a 4-1 lead early in the second quarter
following goals by Muldoon, junior Nick Laster, Feinberg and
sophomore Rob Schlesinger. The Quakers fought back with three
straight goals to tie the game, 4-1 at the half.Penn took its only
lead of the game late in the third quarter following back-to-back
goals by Cory Winkoff and Dan Savage with 3:03 left in the
quarter. The Bears answered immediate with goals by Muldoon
and Feinberg to fight back on top, 8-7, after three quarters.
Rob McMullen’s unassisted goal early in the fourth quarter
knotted the score at 8-8.
Feinberg scored four goals for the third time this season to
lead all scorers. Seligman made the difference as the
playmaker for the Bears with four assists. Junior goalie Matt
Chriss was outstanding in goal for the Bears with 12 saves,
including four in the decisive fourth quarter.
John Conneely and Savage led the Quakers with two goals each,
while Conneely added two assists. Joe Hegener made 12 saves
in net for the Quakers.Brown has a week off before returning to Ivy
League action at home against Yale on Saturday, April 17.
