Lehigh Confronts Colgate on National T.V.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Mountain Hawks men's lacrosse team will travel to upstate New York to face off against Patriot League foe Colgate this Saturday, April 10. The game will be shown live nationwide on CBS College Sports. Lehigh is looking to continue its winning ways as the Brown and White is currently riding a three game winning streak. The Mountain Hawks head into competition with a 6-5 overall record and 1-2 mark in league play. A victory over Colgate would move Lehigh one step closer towards earning a spot in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament.
Lehigh is heading north after a tide turning win over Sacred Heart on April 3 at home. Trailing 6-5 heading into the fourth quarter, Lehigh completely dominated the final 15 minutes of play, outscoring Sacred Heart 4-0 as the Mountain Hawks downed the Pioneers 9-6 at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
Junior Will Scudder won 14-of-18 face-offs and scooped up eight ground balls during the game and sophomore goalkeeper, Conor Murphy, made 12 saves in the game in what was his first start of the season. Freshman Dante Fantoni netted a season best five scores for the victorious Mountain Hawks and was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for his efforts, while senior captain Brian Bienemann handed out a team-high three assists.
Fantoni currently leads the Mountain Hawks with 30 points this season - 19 goals and 11 assists. The New York native has a .701 shot on goal percentage and has played in all 11 games. Sophomore Cameron Lao-Gosney is tied with Fantoni for team-leading honors with 19 goals, while Bienemann has found the back of the net 16 times. Freshman David DiMaria continues to lead the Brown and White in assists with 15, while sophomores Adam Johnston (15) and Roman Lao-Gosney (11) have netted double figure goals.
Dan Carr has been manning the net for the Mountain Hawks for the majority of the minutes and has made an impressive 87 saves this season in 532 minutes of action. Scudder meanwhile has won nearly 61% in the X, which is good for eighth best in the entire nation and he also leads the Mountain Hawks with 53 ground balls. Senior captain Evan Guerrero has contributed 25 ground balls and a team high 22 caused turnovers, while junior Rich Bradley has scooped up 21 GBs and caused nine TOs.
Colgate is hosting the Mountain Hawks with a 1-8 overall record with the Raiders lone victory coming in early March against Vermont. Ben McCabe is the team's leading scorer with 18 goals and 22 points, with Peter Baum the Raiders other double digit goal scorer with 18. Patrick Campbell leads the squad with eight assists and Jim Carroll has taken the majority of the face-offs, having won nearly 57%.
In goal for the Raiders, Jared Madison has seen the most time with 327 minutes to his credit, and he has sent back 62 shots during that time. Michael Crown leads the Raiders in caused turnovers with 11.
Lehigh and Colgate will be meeting for the 34th time with the Raiders leading the series 23-10. Colgate won a hard-fought 10-8 decision last season in Bethlehem, while the Mountain Hawks last victory in the series was a thrilling 12-11 overtime win in 2005.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live nationwide on CBS College Sports at 7 P.M.
