Detroit Mercy Preps for Titan Doubleheader

DETROIT - After hitting the road for a pair of games over
the holiday weekend, the UDM men's lacrosse team will welcome Mount
St. Mary's into Titan Field on Saturday in the first ever lacrosse
doubleheader in school history. Game time is set for noon with the
women hosting Liberty at 3:00 p.m.
The "Titan Lax Doubleheader" will feature Team Day at Detroit with
FREE ADMISSION to both the men's and women's games for all high
school, middle school, and youth club lacrosse teams and
coaches.
Detroit saw its' two game winning streak come to an end last week
in heartbreaking fashion as the red, white and blue fell by just
one goal, 9-8, to defending MAAC champion Siena, which was followed
by a tough 12-8 setback at Yale.
The Titans entered the week as the top team in the nation in caused
turnovers forcing their opponents into 11.1 miscues per game.
Freshmen Joel Matthews (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross Secondary)
and Jordan Houtby (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross Secondary) are
also among the top players in the country as Matthews leads the
MAAC with 30 goals and is sixth in the nation with 3.0 goals per
game. His six hat tricks on the season is tied for the second most
by a player at the Division I level. On the defensive side, Houtby
leads the conference and is sixth in the country with 2.3 caused
turnovers per game
Mount St. Mary's comes into the contest at 5-3, 2-0 in the MAAC.
The Mountaineers are second in the conference averaging 10.88 goals
per game, led by Cody Lehrer, who has tallied 29 goals and 32
points on the season. Mount goalie T.C. DiBartolo also leads the
conference with 12.86 saves per game.
