Binghamton Drops Siena in Double Overtime

VESTAL, N.Y.-- Freshman midfielder Tyler
Perrelle scored with 2:22 left in the second sudden-death overtime
period, leading Binghamton (3-7) to a 9-8 win over Siena (5-4) in a
non-conference men's lacrosse game on Wednesday afternoon at the
Bearcats Sports Complex. The win snaps the Bearcats' three-game
losing skid.
Perrelle's game-winning goal, which was his first of the game, was
assisted by freshman attack Jack Doherty, who finished with two
goals and a pair of assists. Senior midfielder Drew Wichmann
tallied a team-best three assists.
Binghamton took a 4-3 halftime lead on a goal by Doherty with two
seconds left before the break. The Bearcats had tied the game on
three seperate occasions in the opening 30 minutes before Doherty's
blast gave them their first lead of the day.
In the third quarter, the Bearcats jumped out to a 7-4 lead with
5:03 left to go. Doherty had his second goal during that span.
Siena, however, trimmed the deficit to 7-6 heading into the final
period. Sophomore attack Bryan Neufeld, who finished with a goal
and three assists for the game, had the final goal of the third
quarter.
Junior midfielder David Raleigh put Binghamton ahead 8-6 just over
three minutes into the fourth quarter. The Saints, however, tied
the game at 8-8 with 41 seconds remaining in regulation. Ryan
Duggan had the game-tying blast and Neufeld recorded his final
assist of the game.
Binghamton outshot Siena 36-31 for the game. Sophomore face off
specialist Jeff Donigan won 14 of the 21 draws and had 11 ground
balls.
Binghamton hosts UMBC on Saturday at 7 p.m.
