ECAC Releases its Weekly Award Roll

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Logan Schuss, Ohio State
Freshman, Attack, Ladner, British Columbia
Schuss had ten points last week, with four points (3g, 1a) against Fairfield Tuesday and six points, on two goals and four assists, in the Buckeyes' win over Quinnipiac Saturday. Schuss, who has at least one point in all nine games of his collegiate career, has a team-best 15 assists and 30 points and shares the team goal lead with 15.

CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Sean Bannon, Fairfield
Junior, LSM, Greenwich, Conn.
Bannon played a key role in the Stags allowing just 13 goals in two ECAC victories during the week. He led the team with ten ground balls in the two games, as well as causing three turnovers. Bannon held his main mark shotless on Saturday in the win over Hobart, contributing to the impressive five-goals allowed effort. He picked up seven ground balls, with two caused turnovers in that victory. He also had three ground balls and a caused turnovers in the victory over Ohio State.

Brandon Freeman, Ohio State
Senior, Goalkeeper, Salem, N.H.
Freeman had a .630 save percentage in the two games last week, stopping 14 shots at Fairfield on Tuesday and a season-high 15 against Quinnipiac Saturday in the win. Against the Bobcats, Freeman held Quinnipiac to eight goals, just four in the second half, as the Buckeyes rallied to win. In the fourth quarter he had six saves on seven shots, with the lone goal late after Ohio State had taken a three-goal lead. He also had six saves in the third quarter at Fairfield on Tuesday.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Sam Snow, Fairfield
Freshman, Attack, Bainbridge, Wash.
Snow was the Stags leading scorer in a 2-0 week against ECAC foes, with six total points. He netted a pair of goals and handed out four assists in the victories. Snow had three points, a goal and two assists, in each win. Snow had two of his points, a goal and an assist, against Ohio State in the third quarter after the Buckeyes had closed within a point. He also assisted on the opening goal on Tuesday night. On Saturday, Snow assisted on Matt Plominksi's man-up goal in the second quarter, which gave the Stags an 8-0 halftime lead, and then tallied the opening goal of the second-half.

Air Force...In its game versus Siena on Tuesday, Air Force allowed a season-low five goals... Goalkeeper Brian Wilson posted a season-best .667 save percentage against the Saints, recording ten saves in the contest... Air Force dominated at the face-off X in its non-conference game versus Denver, winning 13-of-19 face-offs... Junior Zack Carroll won 9-of-13 face-offs, while sophomore John DeBonis won 4-of-6 at the X... The Falcons picked up a season-high 36 ground balls against the Pioneers, led by junior Bryan Gilbreath, who scooped up eight ground balls in the game, while Zack Carroll picked up a career-best six ground balls... Air Force wraps up its four-game roadswing on Saturday, as they travels to Robert Morris.... The game will be the Falcons' final non-conference match-up of the season.

Bellarmine...Bellarmine improved to 6-3 with their 17-12 victory over Presbyterian over the weekend.... Ten different Knights registered goals in the win and 14 Bellarmine players scored in the contest... Sean Doyle rang up four goals on just four shots to increase his teamleading total to 23 on the season... Doyle now stands as No. 3 on Bellarmine's career goals scored list... Last week's ECAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week and the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week Chase Williams had another solid performance with three assists on the day... Midfielder Derek Hopcroft had a complete stat line on Saturday with a goal, an assist, three caused turnovers, and a ground ball...Karsen Leung also filled the stat sheet, the sophomore middie came off the bench to record two goals, an assist and five ground balls... Bellarmine's last six games are all ECAC contests, beginning with Fairfield on Saturday... Bellarmine coach Jack McGetrick will be gunning for career win number 130 against the Stags.

Denver...The University of Denver men's lacrosse team (5-4) concluded its non-conference portion of the season with a 9-6 win over the Air Force Falcons at home, registering its second straight win... Sophomore Mark Matthews led the Pioneers with his second consecutive hat trick, while junior Todd Baxter and sophomore Patrick Rogers each added two goals... Senior Peter Lowell secured his second win of the season, making ten saves and allowing only four goals... For the season, the Pioneers are averaging 10.22 goals per game and have a 64.8 shot on goal percentage... Denver has also scooped up 271 ground balls and is 81.6 percent effective on clears.

Fairfield...Fairfield went 2-0 on the week, with ECAC wins over Ohio State (10-8) and Hobart (14-5), at home... With the win over Ohio State, the Stags are now 5-0 in ECAC league openers... The wins also give the Stags their second 2-0 ECAC start, both under Andy Copelan... The offense scored 24 goals, with 11 different players touching net at least once, and no one scoring more than three goals... For the season, 12 players have scored at least one of the team's 65 goals, with no players in double-digits through the first seven games... Sam Snow continues to pace the Stags offense, netting a pair of goals and handing out four assists this week. He leads the way with nine goals, seven assists and 16 points... Steve Golmont went 29-of-41 at the face-off X, 70.7 percent, on the week, with the Stags going 31-of-44 for the week as a team... Fairfield's defense allowed just 13 goals in the two games... Joseph Marra made 17 saves in the two games... Sean Bannon recorded a team-best ten ground balls on the week, with three caused turnovers, while Brendan McTague contributed seven ground balls and two caused turnovers... The Stags out shot Ohio State and Hobart by a combined 82-50 total on the week, with a 57-30 advantage in shots on goal... Fairfield will play at Bellarmine on Saturday in its only game of the week... It is the first-ever meeting with the Knights for the Stags lacrosse program.

Hobart...Senior goalie Max Silberlicht produced 32 saves against 48 shots last week. He turned back a career-high 23 shots in a heartbreaking 9-8 overtime loss to No. 2 Syracuse on Tuesday. At Fairfield on Saturday, he stopped 9-of-16 in 24 minutes of work. For the week, Silberlicht posted a .667 save percentage. He heads to Denver on Saturday with 469 career saves, third on Hobart's Division I list, four behind No. 2 Mike Borsz '03... Senior attackman Kevin Curtin led The Statesmen in scoring last week with four goals and an assist. He shared game-high honors with three points against the Orange, and produced a pair of goals against the Stags. Curtin has scored at least one point in 21 consecutive games... Junior long-stick midfielder Alex Caton grabbed a team-high six ground balls for Hobart last week. He had four and scored a goal against Syracuse. Caton is second on the team in ground balls with 28, two behind sophomore faceoff specialist Bobby Dattilo.

Ohio State...Ohio State took on Fairfield in its first conference game in the ECAC, losing 10-8, on Tuesday night... On Saturday the Buckeyes posted their first ECAC win, rallying from a four-goal third-quarter deficit to win, 10-8, against Quinnipiac... The Buckeyes are in a stretch of five-consecutive games away from Columbus... The squad will take on Loyola at 2 p.m. Saturday in Baltimore in a game televised as part of the ECAC's television package and play at Hobart the following week before returning home for three home games in a row... Freshman Logan Schuss, who is tied for the ECAC lead with 3.33 points per game, is first for the Buckeyes with 15 assists and 30 points and shares the goal-scoring lead with James Green with 15 each... Tundo is third with 14 goals, followed by Ventiquattro with 13... Schuss and Green both have at least one point in all nine games this year... Schuss had six points in the Buckeyes' comeback win over Quinnipiac, with a point on five-consecutive goals in the second half. The six points scored by Schuss matched his career-high first set against Detroit Feb. 27. The four assists tied his second best recorded against Penn State March 6. Schuss had four points, with a hat trick and an assist, at Fairfield Tuesday... Against Quinnipiac, freshman Jeff Tundo had the third three-goal game of his career, matching the marks set versus Albany on March 13 and Villanova on Feb. 13... Senior goalie Freeman had 14 saves at Fairfield and a season-best 15 against Quinnipiac and now has double-digit saves in seven games this season.

Loyola...Jake Hagelin made a season-high 15 saves in goal for the Greyhounds, and Loyola defeated Towson, 7-6, in non-conference action on Friday. The junior from Havre de Grace, Maryland, finished one off his career-high of 16 saves set as a freshman in 2008 at Hobart. He lowered his goals against average to 6.86 this season... As a team, Loyola's defense is holding opponents to 6.79 goals per game through seven contests... Over their last three games, the Greyhounds have held opponents to 5.67 goals per game... Collin Finnerty registered his sixthstraight game with three or more points, scoring three goals to lead all players against Towson. Finnerty has scored eight goals in three games during his career against Towson, and he now leads Loyola with 16 goals and 23 points this season... Steve Layne picked up a ground ball against the Tigers and now needs four to reach 100 for his career... John Schiavone won 9-of-15 faceoffs for the Greyhounds and raised his winning percentage to .580 for the year... The Greyhounds improved to 5-2 on the season, a mark they have now achieved in three of the last four seasons... Loyola hosts Ohio State, in the first-ever meeting between the teams, on Saturday, April 3 at 2 p.m. The game will be televised nationally as the ECAC Lacrosse League 'Game of the Week'.

Quinnipiac...The Bobcats (4-2, 1-2 ECAC) took a tough 10-8 loss to Ohio State Saturday, as the Buckeyes erased a 7-3 second-half deficit with seven straight goals... Jack Oppenheimer led the Bobcats with four goals and two assists, while Todd Kaiser had two goals and Kevin Kelly added two assists... Oppenheimer took over the team lead in points with 18, while pushing his team-best goal total to 14... Zach Pall, the nation's leader in ground balls per game (9.25) and face-off win percentage (.683) entering the week, scooped up nine ground balls and won 12-of-19 chances at the face-off X... Kevin Benzing made ten saves, while allowing ten goals in net for the Bobcats. Kelly, Jake Glebocki, and Alex Marotto caused two turnovers each... The Bobcats return to action Saturday, when they travel to West Hartford, Conn., to take on the University of Hartford. Opening face-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Yousuf Al-Marzook Athletic Field.
