Denver Travels to Notre Dame Tuesday

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Denver men's
lacrosse team (3-3) travels to South Bend, Indiana, for a 2 p.m. MT
game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Tuesday. The game
will be available via Live Stats and fans can follow the in-game

SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are coming off back-to-back
losses on the road, dropping a 7-6 overtime decision to No. 20
Drexel and a 10-8 loss to Fairfield. The Irish are 3-2 on the
season, having secured wins over No. 2 Duke (11-7), Penn State
(12-8) and No. 10 Loyola (11-9). Neal Hicks leads the team with 10
goals and 14 points, while Zach Brenneman, David Earl and Max
Pfeifer have all added seven goals. Andrew Irving leads the team
defensively with 24 ground balls, while face-off specialist Trever
Sipperly has won 62-of-99 attempts. As a team, the Irish are
averaging 40.0 shots per game and 9.6 goals per game.
PIONEER CHECK-IN
After dropping its first two games of the season, Denver
snagged its first win under head coach Bill Tierney as it defeated
the No. 20 Albany Great Danes 17-13 to open the home season at
Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Denver then hosted the Ninth Annual
DU Face-Off Classic, dropping an 11-7 decision to Penn to start the
weekend, and closed with an 8-7 victory over Lehigh in the final
seconds. The Pioneers then won their second straight game defeating
Canisius 10-5 at home. Freshman Cameron Flint (Georgetown, Ontario)
leads the Pioneers with 14 goals, while sophomore Alex Demopoulos
(Canton, Conn.) leads Denver with 21 points. Senior Charley
Dickenson (Dallas, Texas) leads the assists list with nine so far
this season. Defensively, senior Dillon Roy (Denver, Colo.) tops
the list for Denver with 26 ground balls and 14 caused
turnovers.
ROY NAMED TO TEWAARTON WATCH LIST
University of Denver men's lacrosse senior Dillon Roy
(Denver, Colo.) was named to the 2010 Tewaarton Watch List, one of
college lacrosse's premier awards, it was announced by the Greater
Washington Sports Alliance. The list is made up of the top lacrosse
players across all three divisions of collegiate lacrosse. Watch
list nominees are screened and selected by two Selection
Committees. The Selection Committees are comprised of college
coaches, one committee for the men and one committee for the
women.
Tabbed the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Preseason
Defensive Player of the Year, Roy leads the team with 20 ground
balls through five games. The defender also leads the team with 11
caused turnovers. Filling in as the face-off man due to injuries,
Roy has also won 52.2 percent of his face-offs.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
The only active Pioneer in the record books, senior
Charley Dickenson ranks tied for third all-time on the
career-assists list with 58 assists and is just nine assists away
from securing the top spot. Daren Dickson (1990-93) currently holds
the top spot with 66 assists. Dickenson also entered the
career-points list and is tied for ninth with 87 career points.
Todd Dickson (1990-93) leads the way with 199 points.
