Hofstra's Lincoln, Bellairs Receive CAA Nod
from press release
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Hofstra junior attackman Jamie Lincoln has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week and freshman goalie Rob Bellairs has been selected the CAA Rookie of the Week for their performances in the 10th-ranked Pride's 14-6 victory over #7 Johns Hopkins last Saturday at James M. Shuart Stadium, the conference announced Monday.
Lincoln, the junior transfer from the University of Denver, recorded a career-high eight points on five goals and three assists in leading the Pride to victory Saturday night. The St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada native netted two in the first half and three in the second half to top his previous Hofstra best of four set against Princeton on February 27. While his three assists in the contest were a career single-game best for Lincoln, the five goals are one off of tying his career-best of six set at Denver against Quinnipiac in 2008. He now has 10 goals and six assists on the season. Lincoln shares the CAA Player of the Week award with Drexel sophomore goalie Mark Manos, who posted victories over #3 Notre Dame and St. John's last week.
Bellairs recorded seven saves, including three in the first quarter, to help lead the Hofstra Pride to victory Saturday. In posting his second win of the season, the North Massapequa, New York native faced 19 shots, allowed a season-low six goals, including two while Hofstra was a man-down, as well as making the seven saves. Bellairs, who was a high school All-American at Plainedge High School, has started the last two games, against Brown and Johns Hopkins, and played the second half of the season opener at Princeton. He now has a 2-1 record and a 10.40 goals against average this season.
The Pride return to action this Saturday, March 20 when they host the Pioneers of Sacred Heart University at Shuart Stadium at 1 p.m.
