(Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Forks) scored three goals each to lead
the No. 14 Georgetown University men's lacrosse team (2-1, 1-0 BIG
EAST) over St. John's (2-1, 0-1 BIG EAST), 9-6. The game was the

three assists and junior midfielder Brian Tabb (Potomac,
Md./Georgetown Prep) was 10-for-16 in the face-off circle for the
Hoyas. The Hoyas held a 40-27 advantage on groundballs, with eight

Georgetown got on the board first, as senior attackman Craig Dowd
(East Northport, N.Y./Northport) scored on a Kocis feed in a man-up
situation to take a 1-0 lead at the 11:33 mark. Harry Kutner, who
led St. John's with two goals and assist, answered with 3:58 in the
first quarter to tie the score. Freshman Travis Comeau (Alberta,

with five seconds remaining in the first quarter to give GU a 2-1
lead.
Senior defender Chris Nixon (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) scored on the
assist from senior midfielder Chris Schuville (Lloyd Harbor,
N.Y./Cold Springs Harbor) just over a minute into the second
quarter. Nixon would also pick up four ground balls, sharing the
team lead with Comeau and Ryan Shuler. The Red Storm rallied back
behind two Garrett Mitchell goals to tie the score at three, midway
through the quarter. Brancaccio took advantage of a man-up
advantage, scoring on an assist from Kocis with 5:25 remaining in
the half to give Georgetown a 4-3 lead, one they would take into
halftime.
The Hoyas took control in the third quarter, as Brancaccio and
Mirabito each scored to extend the Hoyas lead to four, at 7-3.
Georgetown's defense held the Red Storm scoreless in the third
quarter as senior goalkeeper Jack Davis (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen
Ridge) made four of his 14 saves in the quarter.
Alex Lagodich and Kutner scored to bring St. John's within two
goals, but Brancaccio halted the Red Storm's momentum with a goal
at the 5:07 mark to give the Hoyas an 8-5 lead. Mirabito would
score the game's final goal with five seconds left on the clock to
ice Georgetown's 9-6 win.
