Drexel Beats Binghamton for Third Straight

PHILADELPHIA - Kevin Stockel scored four goals
and added an assist as Drexel defeated Binghamton in a
non-conference game, 12-7. It was the third straight win for the
Dragons, who improved to 3-1. Binghamton dropped to 1-3.
Stockel had a goal and an assist in the opening quarter as Drexel
raced out to a 5-2 lead. The Drexel lead increased to five goals in
the second quarter as the Dragons went to intermission ahead
8-3.
In the third quarter, Stockel scored just 1:08 into the period,
giving Drexel its largest lead of the day. The Bearcats got the
next two goals over the ensuing 15 minutes of play but Stockel made
it 10-5 with 11:26 remaining in regulation. Each team scored twice
more during the rest of the fourth quarter.
Adam Dennis had a big day for the Dragons, finding the net on three
occasions. Scott Perri added two goals and an assist for
Drexel.
Freshman attack Matt Springer led the Bearcats with a two goals.
Fellow freshman attack Tyler Perrelle finished with a goal and two
assists.
Binghamton outshot Drexel 34-28 but Mark Manos finished with 13
saves in the winning effort.
Drexel host nationally-ranked Notre Dame on Tuesday afternoon at
Vidas Field. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
