Hofstra Names Tri-Captains for 2010
from press releases
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Pride seniors Tom Interlicchio
and Adam Swarsen, and junior Steven DeNapoli have been named 2010
team tri-captains, Hofstra Head Men's Lacrosse coach Seth Tierney
announced.
Interlicchio (Yorktown, NY), who is entering his fourth season, has
played in 45 games for the Pride and has tallied 24 goals and eight
assists during his career. The midfielder, who is expected to be
moved to a short-stick defensive middie position this season, was
named to the CAA All-Rookie Team as a freshman in 2007. The former
high school All-American tallied a career-best 14 goals and three
assists in 2007,
Swarsen (Denver, CO), who is a fifth-year senior, has played in 36
games during his Hofstra career including all 15 last season. A
2007 All-CAA second team selection, Swarsen, a defenseman who may
also see time as a long-stick midfielder, will be starting his
third year as a Pride team captain. Last year, he recorded 35
ground balls, three short of his single season best of 38 set in
2007.
DeNapoli (Hewlett, NY), who is in his third season with the Pride,
has played in all 31 games since his arrival at Hofstra. An All-CAA
second team selection and a member of the CAA All-Tournament team
in 2009, DeNapoli, a midfielder, led the team and was 33rd in the
nation in ground ball average (4.2 gbpg). The 2008 CAA All-Rookie
team selection also recorded four goals and four assists last
year.
The Pride will play their first scrimmages of the preseason this
Sunday, February 7 when they face Le Moyne College at 12:30 p.m.
and Syracuse University at 2:30 p.m. at the Carrier Dome in
Syracuse.
Hofstra will open its 2010 regular season on Saturday, February 27
in an ESPNU-televised contest at Princeton University. Game time is
Noon.
