Air Force Pulls Away From Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Air Force lacrosse team
used a strong second half to knock off Bellarmine University, 12-7,
Saturday afternoon at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium. With the victory,
the Falcons improve to 4-6 overall, 2-1 in the Great Western
Lacrosse League, while the Knights fall to 6-6 overall, 0-4 in the
league.
The game was scoreless for nearly seven minutes until Air Force
senior K.J. Landgraf gave the Falcons' a quick jump start, tallying
three goals, including a pair of man-up scores, within a span of
three minutes.
Bellarmine finally got on the board at the 4:17 mark of the opening
period when Chase Williams got free for an assisted goal to make it
3-1.
The Falcons went up by a count of 5-1 early in the second period,
but Bellarmine battled back with four unanswered goals to tie the
score 5-5 at halftime.
Air Force registered the first two goals of the third period to
take a 7-5 lead at the 9:50 mark. Bellarmine's Jarrett Davis scored
his third goal of the game to cut the lead to 7-6 with a little
over six and a half minutes remaining in the third.
The Falcons, however, put the game away with five consecutive
goals. A late goal by the Knights' Sean Doyle made the final margin
12-7.
Bellarmine held the edge on face-offs won (14-of-23), but the
Falcons outshot the Knights 42-36. Meanwhile, Air Force's starting
goalkeeper, Brian Wilson, matched a career-high with 12 saves,
while allowing just six goals.
