Hofstra Nips Brown in Double OT

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The 12th-ranked Hofstra
men's lacrosse team rallied from a 10-3 third quarter deficit to
score eight unanswered goals in an 11-10 double-overtime win over
13th-ranked Brown in the Bears' home opener at Meister-Kavan
Field.
The Flying Dutchmen tied the game with 1:08 remaining in regulation
and earned the win on Jay Cards fourth goal of the game with
19 seconds remaining in the second sudden-death overtime
period.
Brown (1-1) held a 7-1 lead at the half and seemingly had
control of the game after building a 10-4 lead with 6:17 remaining
on a goal by junior Thomas Muldoon. But Hofstra (2-0) rallied
with two third quarter goals, and out-scored the Bears, 5-0 in the
fourth quarter, tying the game with 1:08 remaining in regulation on
an unassisted goal by Anthony Muscarella.
The Bears built its 7-2 lead at the half on two goals by sophomore
Andrew Feinberg, a goal by junior Collins Carey, and one goal each
by seniors Jack Walsh, Nic Bell and Todd Faiella.
Junior Jake Hardy lifted the Bears to an 8-3 advantage early in the
third quarter and Card answered to cut the Brown lead to 8-2 with
11:23 left in the quarter.
Feinberg's third goal of the game sparked a 3-0 Brown rally that
lifted the Bears to a 10-3 lead following goals by senior Kyle
Hollingsworth and Muldoon.
Brown All-American senior goalie Jordan Burke was peppered by the
Hofstra squad all game as the Bears were out-shot by a 44-31
margin. Burke finished the game with 15 saves.
Feinberg was Browns top overall scorer with three goals and
two assists. Senior Brady Williams added two assists for the
Bears.
