BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 14th-ranked Brown
men's lacrosse team built a 12-6 fourth quarter lead and then had
to hold off a pesky Lehigh team to earn a 13-12 win over the
Mountain Hawks Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Andrew Feinberg and
junior Collins Carey scored three goals and handed out two assists
each to lead the Bears.
The Bears seemed to have control of the game early, building a 4-2
lead after one quarter on two goals by Feinberg and one each by
senior Nic Bell and junior Thomas Muldoon. Both Muldoon and Bell
added second quarter goals to lift the Bears to a 6-4 lead at
intermission.
Senior Jack Walsh, Carey and senior Brady Williams scored the
first three goals of the third quarter to put the Bears in control,
9-4, but the Mountain Hawks rallied to pull to within 10-6 of the
Bears after three quarters.
Carey and Feinberg netted goals for the Bears to open the fourth
quarter and give Brown its biggest lead, 12-6 with 13:34 remaining
in the game. Lehigh responded with five straight goals over the
next eight minutes to cut the Brown lead to 12-11 with 5:44
remaining.
Brown senior Kyle Hollingsworth took the pressure off the Bears
with an unassisted goal with 3:26 remaining to stop the Lehigh run
and give the Bears a 13-11 advantage. Lehigh added a goal with 20
seconds remaining in the game to account for the final score and
had a final chance hit the outside of the net with four seconds
remaining.
Bears' senior All-American goalie Jordan Burke registered seven
saves in goal.
