There are 13 new Wings including seven rookies: ''With change there is a little bit of uncertainty and we don't quite know what we have yet,'' captain Brodie Merrill said ... The Wings' Jordan Hall was assessed a one-game suspension for high-sticking during a Dec. 22 exhibition game versus Toronto but might be available Friday if his appeal is successful ... Buffalo D Billy Dee Smith sits out. He lost his appeal of a two-game suspension carrying over from last season. D Jimmy Purves has been activated.

Swarm captain Andrew Suitor is under a two-game suspension for an incident in a playoff game last May ... Minnesota's four first-round draft picks made for a highly competitive camp. ''Every issue we felt we had to address, we were able to do so,'' coach Joe Sullivan said ... Veteran goalie Anthony Cosmo joined the Bandits midway through 2012. ''We're really excited to have him for a full year,'' says assistant coach Rich Kilgour ... Minnesota will go with a two-goalie system again with Evan Kirk and Tyler Carlson alternating.

The Mammoth added five or six new faces to a squad that was 11-5 last year and coach Bob Hamley is optimistic. ''We had a great camp, very competitive,'' Hamley said ... Stealth D Kyle Sorensen and Mammoth F John Grant Jr. are summer teammates in their home city of Peterborough, Ontario, and Sorensen makes it clear he'd rather watch Grant score goals than try to stop him: ''He's so dynamic on the floor,'' Sorensen said. ''There are so many things he can do. But you look down their roster and see a supporting cast of guys who can score goals as well so we can't forget about them.''

Faceoff specialist Geoff Snider says it was hardest training camp he's endured. ''Guys are chomping at the bit to get out there to compete,'' Snider said. ''It's the tightest group I've been involved with in team sports.''

There's high anticipation for the NLL debut of No. 1 draft pick Mark Matthews of the Rush. At least 10 of the players on the 23-man active roster will be living in Edmonton during the season. No. 1 goalie Aaron Bold is a personal trainer so will be leading weekday fitness sessions ... ''They're going to be a handful, no question about that,'' Rock GM Terry Sanderson said of the Rush ... Sanderson on goaltender Nick Rose: ''Nick had a very good camp. Nothing seems to bother this kid. We think we've got a good one and he'll get every opportunity to show that he's our No. 1 guy.''
