Mother of Penn State Player Seeks Bone Marrow Transplant Match
Her first sentence says it all: My name is Kim Roper and I need your help right now.
Roper, the mother of Penn State senior midfielder Drew Roper, has non-Hodgkin lymphoma and needs a bone marrow transplant immediately to save her live. There is currently no bone marrow match for her in the National Registry; she has no siblings and is dependent on the registry to find a donor.
In an online page titled "match4kim," Roper tells her story and explains the quick process to determine if someone is a bone marrow match for her.
"All it takes is a cotton swab," she said. "You might not end up being a match for me, but by registering and getting tested, you might someday save the life of someone else."
