No. 1 McDonogh Snaps Vero Beach's 69-Game Home Win Streak

If you didn't know already – by Lacrosse Magazine's national top 25 polls (boys, girls) and in-depth regional reports released Wednesday – high school season is underway.

And a record has already gone down.

McDonogh (Md.), LM's No. 1 ranked girls' team in the country, traveled to Florida and ended Vero Beach's 69-game home winning streak by a score of 15-5 on Wednesday. The streak began in 2009.

Laurel Pfahler, a regular LaxMagazine.com contributor, wrote the game story for local news outlet TCPalm.com. She said the crowd was estimated to be three times as large as any Vero Beach home crowd in recent years.

McDonogh has now won 52 straight games. It boasts 15 players who plan to play Division I lacrosse next year. Vero Beach is ranked 11th nationally in LM's most recent poll.
