The team is headlined by Jen Adams, current Loyola Maryland coach and the NCAA all-time leading scorer during her playing days at Maryland. Adams is one of 10 on the roster who is a returner from the 2009 squad that had a second-place finish behind Team USA. She is also one of four returning 2009 All-World players, along with McSolvin, Morlang and Nielsen. Sarah Forbes, a veteran who has played in three FIL World Cups for Team Australia and was All-World in 2009, will not return for 2013.

There are also three players from the 2011 FIL U19 team, which finished second to Team USA in Hannover. Of the three, midfielder Isabelle Pickett is likely the most familiar to American lacrosse fans – she plays for San Diego State University.

Maryland is the best-represented NCAA institution on Team Australia, boasting five alums (Adams, Hobbs, LaMonica, McLeod, and Mollison). There are two Loyola Greyhounds (alum Morlang and current junior Paton), plus one player each from Northwestern (Nielsen), Syracuse (Brown) and Denver (Morton). LaMonica is currently the coach at Towson University. Nielsen is an assistant at Colorado, and Mollison is an assistant at William & Mary.

Team USA will name its roster for Oshawa following Champion Challenge on Jan. 25-27. The Americans defeated the Australians, 8-7, in the 2009 title game.
