What Notre Dame Watches Before Big Games

"Last year was last year. This is a new season with a new group of guys trying to achieve a new set of goals."

How many times have you heard those preseason platitudes?

That's why it's refreshing to see the Notre Dame men's lacrosse team draw upon its magical run to the 2010 NCAA championship game for motivation, rather than hide from the shadow it may or may not cast on its 2011 season.

On the night before a fall scrimmage against Johns Hopkins in San Francisco, the team showed its players a photo montage celebrating the run through the final four. Then the night before the Irish's regular season opener against Duke in Jacksonville -- an NCAA championship game rematch Notre Dame would eventually win 12-7 -- they watched their 2010 season highlights as produced by former star player Ryan Hoff.

It must work. Notre Dame is 2-0 and ranked No. 4 nationally in the USILA Division I poll going into Saturday's game against No. 16 Drexel. Meantime, check out Notre Dame's YouTube channel.
