And then they rested.
The MCLA has played the first two rounds of its championships in
Denver, and on Thursday the remaining semifinalists in both
divisions will get a day of rest while the consolation bracket
kicks in.
And in a tacit approval of the selection committee's job, seven of
the eight teams playing in the semis are Top 4 seeds.
In Division I, No. 1 Michigan (22-6 win over Sonoma), No. 2 BYU
(9-8 win over Florida State) and No. 3 Chapman (15-14 overtime win
over Simon Fraser) held their seeds, while No. 5 Colorado edged No.
4 Minnesota-Duluth, 13-10 to fill out the field.
On the junior circuit, all four top seeds advanced. No. 1 Dayton
beat Western Oregon, No. 2 St. Thomas rolled past defending
national champion Westminster, No. 3 Davenport fended off Emory
while No. 4 St. John's subdued Northern Colorado.
I'll be arriving in Denver on Thursday afternoon and will start my
coverage of the tournament then. Check back for a running blog
(live during the games), feature stories and game recaps.
